ANNIE ZAIDI THE WINNER OF NINE DOTS PRIZE.

Annie Zaidi a freelancer writer is the winner of 2019’s the Nine Dots Prize for her report and memoir- Bread, Cement, Cactus. She is also the winner of 2018’s The Hindu Playwright Award for her play the- Untitled-1. The James Williams was the inaugural winner of the Nine Dots Prize for his book Stand Out Of Our Light. The prize is sponsored by by the Kadas Prize Foundation with support from CRASSH at the University of Cambridge and Cambridge University Press. The winner gets $ 100,000 as the prize money. The recipient also award gets an opportunity to spend a term at the Centre For Research in the Arts, Social-Sciences and Humanities at the Cambridge University.

Annie Zaidi, a graduate from Sophia College in Ajmer, penned down several plays and poems for the college festivals. Later she did journalism from the Xavier Institute of Communications, Mumbai. Elle magazine in its June 2012 edition named Annie Zaidi as one of the emerging South Asian writers.

CAREER AS A JOURNALIST.

As a journalist she has written columns for the country’s best newspapers and magazines. Her journalist career started with Mid Day and then Frontline. Later she wrote for Caravan, Open, The Hindu, Elle, Forbes India, Femina, Marie Claire, Tehelka and the Deccan Herald. Between 2011-2013 she wrote columns for DNA (Daily News Analysis.). Presently she is associated with The Hindu. She has directed short movies. Such as Ek Red Colour Ki Love Story, Ek Bahut Choti Si Love Story and Decible.
