SPINNERS WHO OPENED THE BOWLING IN THE WORLD CUP.
In the 1992 World Cup for the first time a spinner was introduced to open the bowling. The bowler was Dipak Patel of New Zealand. But he bowled the second over of the match.The match was between Australia and New Zealand. In its 2011th edition, Ravichandran Ashwin, open the bowling for India in the quarterfinals against Australia. Imran Tahir became the first ever spinner to open the bowling in an inaugural match of a World Cup. This South African became the oldest player to represent his country aged 40 years and 64 days.He surpassed his own country man Omar Henry who played for South Africa at an age of 40 years and 39 days.
