Recently the NITI AAYOG has released a report name- The Healthy States, Progressive India.
The report tells about the best and the worst performing State or States along with Union Territories in the health sector.
The States and the Union Territories have been ranked in three categories such as Large, Smaller a Union Territories.
While preparing the report year 2015-2016 was taken as base year and the year 2017-2018 as reference year.
The Health Index is based on three domains. These are Health Outcomes 70%, Input, and Processes 18% and the Governance and Information 12%.
The Health Index is based on 23 health-related indicators. Some important indicators are neonatal mortality rate, under-five mortality rate, the proportion of low birth weight among newborns, the proportion of districts with functional cardiac care units, full immunization coverage and the proportion of specialist positions vacant at district hospitals.
