NATARAJAN NEW DG OF INDIAN COAST GUARD.
  • Krishnaswamy Natarajan is the 23rd Director-General of the Indian Coast Guard.
  • Born on 30 December 1961. A post graduate in Defence and Strategic Studies from the University of Madras.
  • He joined the Indian Coast Guard on 18th January 1984. Prior to his appointment, he was the Commander of Western Seaboard, one of the sensitive areas because of its jurisdiction that ranges from the Gujarat adjoining Pakistan to the Kerala coast.
  • In 2009 he was elevated to the Flag rank, headed the Staff Division of Policy & Plans at the Coast Guard Headquarters as the Deputy Director General till 2014.
  • Post 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, he was instrumental in giving an overall change to the growth of the Coast Guard, by establishing additional 20 Stations, 10 Air Establishment, Two Regional Headquarters, Two Seaboards and contract for 120 ships and boats and infrastructure development including a dedicated Academy.
