In the history of One Day International Cricket for the first time, three opening batsmen remained unbeaten in a match. They are Dimuth Karunaratne, Martin Guptill and Colin Munro.
15 One Day Internationals has been played by the Sri-Lankan team and they have won just a single match.
New Zealand is the only team that has won three matches in the World Cups without losing a wicket.
This was the third biggest 10 wickets victory in the history of cricket in terms of ball remaining ie 203 balls. The first was off 252 balls in 2011 and the match was between New Zealand and Kenya. The second is 228 balls in 2003 South Africa beat Bangladesh.
Dimuth Karunaratne who scored 52 runs in the match is now among the players who carried out the bat in low scoring One Day Internationals. The other two are Ridley Jacobs of West-Indies he scored 49 runs against Australia in 1999 at Manchester. Javed Omar of Bangladesh in 2001 scored 33 runs against Zimbabwe in Harare.
