BEN STOKES BECAME FIRST ENGLISH CRICKETER TO WIN THIS AWARD IN LAST 15 YEARS.
Stokes made his international debut in the year 2011. In the span of nine years, he has played two memorable innings in the world cricket. The first was the ICC Worldcup finals at the Lords against New Zealand he remained unbeaten at 84 runs, England won its maiden title. He scored 465 runs and took 7 wickets. Second the Ashes, the Headingley Test, the epic battle between bat and ball. Stokes will be remembered for his heroic batting in the second innings of the match. He scored a century and England won the match. Before Stokes, Andrew Flintoff was the only Englishman who won the Wisden Cricketer of the year in 2005.
