untitledThe Vice Admiral KARAMBIR SINGH PVSM AVSM ADC, became first helicopter pilot to head the office.Born as a son of an Air Force Officer on 3rd November 1959 in Jalandhar,Punjab.

untitledHe completed his schooling from the Barnes School, Deolali Maharashtra before joining National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla.A graduate from Defence Services Staff College,Wellington and College of Naval Warfare Mumbai.untitled In July 1980,he was Commissioned into the Indian Navy. Earned his wings as a helicopter pilot in 1982 and has flown on the Chetak and Kamov Ka 25 and 28 helicopters.

In the career of 39 years,he has commanded and served-

1-Indian Coast Guard Ship Chandbibi, Missile Corvette INS Vijaydurg and two Guided Missile Destroyers INS Rana and INS Delhi.

2-He served as the Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet.

3-The Joint Director Naval Air Staff and as Captain Air and Officer-in-Charge of the Naval Air Station at Mumbai.

4- Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command.

5-Chief of Staff of the Tri-Services Command at Andaman and Nicobar Islands and as the Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra and Gujarat Naval Area.

6- The Director General Project Seabird, in-charge of infrastructure development of the Navy’s modern base at Karwar.

Other Responsibilities- Deputy Chief of Naval Staff and Vice Chief of the Naval Staff at IHQ MoD (Navy) and as Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Naval Command since 31 October 2017.

AWARDS- The Param Vishist Seva Medial and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.
