K. Parasaran, the former Attorney General of India (1983-1989) is the chairman of Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra. The new Trust constituted by the the government of India for construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

Mr. Parasaran is famous as Pithamaha of the Indian Bar Council. He started practicing in the Supreme Court of India in 1958. During emergency he served as Advocate General of Tamil Nadu in 1976. A Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan awardee in 2011 and 2003. He was also one the nominated members of Rajya Sabha in 2012.

The trust will have 14 members. The nine names are announced by the government and one district magistrate of Ayodhya.

Out of remaining four members two will be nominated by the Board of Trustees with a majority. An officer IAS, not below the Joint Secretary rank deputed at the Centre will be its one of the four members. While the state government will nominate one member an IAS officer not below the rank Secretary as a member.District Magistrate of Ayodhya will be the ex-officio member, a practising Hindu. In case the District Magistrate is not Hindu, then additional District Magistrate will be an ex-office member.

The government has clearly stated that if at any point of time all members of the Trust will be practising Hindus and one of them must be of Schedule Caste category.
