Microlithic, a characteristic tools used by Mesolithic man. The transition phase of the Stone age that began around 9000 BC. The domestication of the animal started. Bhimbetka in Madhya Pradesh is a fine example of Pre-Historic art. The rock paintings here are from palaeolithic to mesolithic. The valleys of Narmada and Belon near Vindhyas have all the three phases i.e Palaeolithic, Mesolithic followed by Neolithic.
