Pakistan’s played its first match against England in the second edition of the Cricket World Cup. The match was at Headingley, Leeds and England defeated Pakistan.The wiining team was lead by Mike Denness and the Pakistan’s captain was Asif Iqbal. Present captain of England is Eoin Morgan and of Pakistan is Sarfaraz Ahmed.
In the World Cup of 1983, Pakistan met twice the England in the group stages but was not able to make any difference as it lost both of its matches. But Pakistan was able to make into the semi-finals.
In 1987 the World Cup was in Asia. This time fortune changed for Pakistan. Pakistan defeated England the match was at Pindi Club Ground, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. Pakistan again makes to semi-finals.
In the edition of 1992 at the group stage, the match between England and Pakistan was abandoned due to rain. Pakistan defeated England in the finals at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, Australia.
In 1996 World Cup Pakistan again defeated England at National Stadium Karachi.
In 2003 the ICC World Cup, England defeated Pakistan.
In 1999, 2007, 2011 and 2015 ICC World Cups there was no match between these two teams.
Ian Bell was the highest run-getter for England in the cricket World Cups. He scored 718 runs (2007 and 2011 ). The most successful bowler for England in the World Cups was Ian Botham he claimed 30 wickets (1979,1983,1987 and 1992). Kevin Pietersen(2007 and 2011) has scored 2 centuries that is the most for any of England’s batsmen in the World Cups.
For Pakistan, the most successful batsman was Javed Miandad. He scored total 1083 runs in the World Cups (1975,1979,1983,1987,1992 and 1996).The most successful bowler for Pakistan was Wasim Akram. He took 55 wickets in the World Cups (1987,1992,1996 and 2003). The batsman who scored most hundred for Pakistan was Rameez Raja. He struck 3 hundred (1987,1992 and 1996).
