LUKA MODRIC the first CROATIAN to win the BALLON d’Or. The captain of national football team and the star player for Real Madrid had ended the reign of LIONEL MESSI and CRISTIANO RONALD.

The other Croatian who was nominated  Davor Suker in 1998 and finished at third spot. SUKER came into spotlight when CROATIA made its debut in 1998 FIFA WORLD CUP in FRANCE. Where he won the GOLDEN BOOT award along with the SILVER BALL as the second best player of the tournament. The CROATIAN team won the bronze medal in their debut world cup. SUKER serves as the President of CROATIAN FOOTBALL FEDERATION.

Modric born on 9 September 1985, is a professional footballer. He mainly plays as a central midfielder and can also play as an attacking midfielder or as a defensive midfielder playmaker.  He is regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation, and the best Croatian footballer of all-time.

In 2018, he became the first the first Croatian player to win the UEFA MEN’s Player of the year along with the best FIFA MEN’s Player, Ballon d’Or. He became the second player after Messi.
